LAURA

On a journey of self-discovery in her native home, Colombia, Laura spent some time in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta living with an Indigenous Kogui community learning valuable lessons from their traditions, relationship with nature, and one of their most sacred plants, Cacao.

Understanding the importance of preserving indigenous traditions encouraged her to serve as a bridge to pass on their message to the modern world.

Her passion & love for Cacao and interest in indigenous knowledge made her want to create something where she could connect both interests. This is how Cacao Collective was born.

Today, she works with communities in Colombia to bring you the best quality Cacao. She aims to shift the way in which Cacao is traded and consumed through Cacao Collective. She also leads bespoke Cacao Jouneys, workshops and retreats where you can learn and experience more about the power of Cacao, Indigenous wisdom and connection with nature.

CACAO COLLECTIVE

OUR MISSION

Through our products, Cacao journeys, retreats and workshops we collaborate and support the work of Indigenous communities, whose work is dedicated to the preservation of Earth.

We aim to support the quality of life of small Cacao family owned businesses, who dedicate their lives to work closely with Cacao.

OUR COMMITMENT

We aim to change the way in which Cacao is consumed, its impact on Earth and the quality of life of the people who work with us. Below are four ways in which we contribute to the improvement of these.

ECOSYSTEM PROTECTION

The Cacao we source is organically grown and harvested from a regenerative agroforestry system. This means that the Cacao trees are grown in combination with other food growing trees, which supports not only the quality of the soil but overall tropical forest restoration.

CULTURAL PRESERVATION

The ancestral system of knowledge of the Kogui has been recognised as intangible cultural heritage of humanity by the UNESCO. It is an honour to support and act as a bridge between Indigenous traditions and modern culture through our projects and work, so that these traditions are passed on and protected.

SMALL BUSINESS SUPPORT

We are actively collaborating with small family-owned businesses who work traditionally with Cacao. We have a direct trade system set up with them, which allows us to pay them beyond the normal Fair trade price, helping them improve their quality of life, and support their projects.

BEST QUALITY PRODUCTS

Our products are made with the highest quality beans, ethically sourced from tropical lands in Colombia. We keep the processing of this plant to a minimum by implementing gentle methods that help retain all its possible benefits.
